Michigan Saves is Michigan’s only non-profit green bank dedicated to making energy improvements easy and affordable. Washington Post: Investors bought a record share of homes in 2021. See where.
“An analysis of 40 major metro areas revealed unequal levels of investor activity, with southern cities and Black neighborhoods disproportionately affected” According to the interactive map, 19% of Detroit homes purchased in 2021 were bought by investors.
The State is currently accepting comments on the draft Healthy Climate Plan, we would encourage Compact participants to especially focus on brief sections regarding housing and building decarbonization. Public comment on the draft plan is open through Monday, March 14. In addition to providing comments at the listening sessions, written comments may be submitted to EGLE-ClimateSolutions@Michigan.gov.
Jefferson East Inc is hiring! The Housing Services Director is a critical leadership position with responsibility that entails strategic visioning and planning in JEI’s housing focus areas such housing counseling, home repair, foreclosure prevention, renter assistance as well as supervision of JEI’s new Neighborhood Resource HUB in Jefferson Chalmers.
Detour Detroit launched the Detroit Development Tracker, an open-source, service-journalism tool that aims to help Detroiters better understand the real estate development projects that are changing the city’s landscape and impacting its communities. Visit the tracker site to explore the map or search for a development project. Each project page includes more details about the taxpayer, what is being built, the status of the project, zoning and other information when available, like cost and images. The tracker is meant to be a participatory project, relying on users like you to share information about developments you see around you. All submissions are reviewed by journalists.
Poverty Solutions has updated its Home Repair Resource Guide — a document that compiles existing home repair resources available in the city of Detroit — with the most recent information about program eligibility and offerings. Each quarter, Poverty Solutions will reach out to organizations currently listed in the guide to solicit input on changes that should be reflected in the document.
